Friends of the Kaw’s education programs have many opportunities in the spring and fall. Our EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS include:

Kids About Water (KAW) Program: Five-lesson water quality issues and actions curriculum that targets students in grades 6-12 classrooms.

Water’s Journey Program: Introduction of middle school students to the ever-connected system of water within the Kansas River Watershed.

Summer Program: Paddle Experience program over the summer teaching students about stormwater, macro invertebrates and paddling a canoe or kayak.
Volunteer responsibilities include:
- Come to our annual volunteer training workshop or get one-on-one training throughout the year!
- Be available on weekdays during the school year
- Help train students about water quality testing
- Wear sturdy shoes and work at the water’s edge
- Be able to walk distances, down stream banks and work in conditions such as light rain, hot and cold weather.
- Be able to get dirty…..and have fun!
